My Story
Monica Gill is an American born actress of Punjabi descent. She was born in the suburbs of Massachusetts USA and raised in a small village in Rajasthan India. This dual identity has given her broad perspectives of both the east and west.
She is Sikh by faith yet attended French Catholic schools her entire life. In 2012, she got her Bachelors of Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, majoring in Biology, and minoring in Psychology, with a certificate in Women’s Studies. Via her university’s honours program, she was published under the title of “Gender Politics of Representation,” in which she focused on how women’s self identity and self esteem is impacted by the images to which they are exposed.

In 2013, she worked a year in Pharmaceuticals. Towards the end of that year she won a state level Indian pageant in the USA and then two weeks later won at the national level. After this win she started getting offers from Indian Cinema. Monica moved to Mumbai Maharashtra in March of 2014 to pursue acting full-time.
That year she studied acting at Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute, during which she also won the prestigious title of Miss India Worldwide. After this she went on to sign Kaptaan, Ambarsariya and SardaarJi 2, which were shot in 2015, released in 2016 and went on to become major hits within Punjabi regional cinema.

In late 2016 she started shooting for the Hindi debut, Firangi which released December of 2017 alongside her fourth Punjabi film Sat Shri Akaal England. In 2018 she shot and released her 2nd Hindi film , Paltan and in 2019 she had her 5th Punjabi release, Yaara Ve.
Monica moved back in mid 2019 to plan her wedding to long time beau Dr. Gurshawn Sahota which was indefinitely postponed due to the Covid. Since November of 2020 she has been continuously advocating for the Farmer’s of India who have been protesting for their rights at Delhi's borders.
In 2021 she began working as a Human Rights Officer with an NGO, The Sikh Human Rights Group, which has ECOSOC status at the United Nations. The Sikh Human Rights Group promotes pluralism, diversity, and human rights.
